Dear Friends,
In July we had the Korean Churches from Calgary staff our Sunchild VBS and the O'Chiese Reserve VBS with large teams. On O'Chiese we were able to use the large gymnasium to hold the VBS and the team stayed here at the mission and did all the cooking here. We are blessed to have the support of these teams. We had a work crew of about 20 come down for a work day, and they rebuilt our aging playground and enclosed the gazebo with walls. They also brought us a large, heavy duty outdoor fireplace and did a lot of clearing work on the mission grounds. They also brought a skid steer to use for clearing, leveling ground, and other tasks.
Karen went back to hold a VBS at Old Crow in the Yukon and took two ladies with her to help her with the VBS. As I write this they are on their way back, first flying into Whitehorse, and the next day flying into Calgary.
Prayer requests for August are for my trip back home to have my one year exam for my knee operation. I'll be driving and visting along the way, so that will be a grueling drive. Karen will be staying here and holding the fort with all the services, Sunday School, youth groups, etc. The Child Evangelism organization is sending a team and Karen will be working with them to hold several short VBS's including at the Big Horn Reserve in the mountains. Karen also has a Ladies Retreat scheduled to be held with a special speaker from Saskatchewan.
I won't be back until sometime in September, so the August update will either be late, or I might just combine it with the September update. Please remember to keep us in prayer for Karen staying here and my travels.
In this picture below, the team is preparing the snack table at VBS. The tent is used for most of the cooking for the team and VBS. Classes are held in the Church, S.S. room, upstairs, and gazebo.

More Sunchild VBS pictures below.

On Saturday the team held a Family Dinner for the families of the youth that came to VBS. A lot more help came from Calgary to help with this.

This is the team of workers for the Sunchild VBS.

This is the O'Chiese VBS which was held in the gymnasium on O'Chiese.

This is the work crew from Drayton Valley. They replaced much of the structure of the playground including swings etc. with materials donated by businesses in Drayton Valley.

The work crew built sides around the gazebo with lumber and supplies which were donated by businesses in Drayton Valley.

This is Karen and her team when they arrived at Old Crow in the Yukon to hold VBS.

Old Crow is a small village with about 300 people living there. We lived there for several years.

Since our monthly updates are being held to only one page we will have some more pictures from August in later updates. Please remember to keep us in prayer for these needs throught August & September. In Jesus, Rodger & Karen Rinker.
